Wisconsin Positive is a licensed Adult Family Home dedicated to empowering adults with disabilities, aging-related challenges, and mental health needs to live meaningful, supported lives. We provide both 24/7 residential care and in-home community support across Dane County. Our philosophy is rooted in dignity, compassion, and collaboration—with the individuals we support and their families.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Caregivers to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide direct support and companionship to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia, or physical limitations. You will be working either at our licensed residential home or supporting individuals in their private homes through our community-based program.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting
  • Support with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration based on dietary needs
  • Provide medication reminders and support with medication administration (as trained)
  • Monitor and respond to emotional, behavioral, or crisis-related needs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
  • Encourage participation in activities, hobbies, and skill-building opportunities
  • Document daily notes and communicate effectively with supervisors and family/guardian teams
  • Build respectful, trusting relationships with individuals and support them with empathy and patience

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in caregiving, direct support, or behavioral health (preferred but not required)
  • Comfortable working with individuals with high behavioral support needs
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for community-based roles)
  • Ability to pass background checks, reference checks, and required health screenings
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks related to daily care
